Close Chase Boat Support - 2 hours
Chase Boat Close Support
Boat Support - $120 per hour

During the early stages of learning to kiteboard, having close chase boat support is very helpful for building confidence, retrieving frequently lost kiteboards, assisting in the relaunching and recovery of downed kites and for ferrying kiters back to shore after they've drifted downwind. This service is for students who have completed Level C (or can demonstrate proficiency), have their own kiteboarding gear and want to develop their skills through practice with the security and confidence of chase boat support. The chase boat is a 12'6", 6-person Hypertex inflatable sport boat with a 20hp outboard motor capable of calm water speeds of 30mph. A soft-hulled inflatable "Zodiac" styled boat is much safer and provides far easier ingress and egress than rigid-hulled boats and has the added advantages of being more maneuverable (owing to its light weight) and more stable while moving around on the boat (owing to the relatively flat shape of the hull and the buoyancy being located around the perimeter). In order to reduce risk, increase boat performance and promote one-on-one focus, no guests are permitted to ride on the chase boat.

If you want to maximize your actual kiteboarding practice time by minimizing wasted board recovery, kite water relaunch and downwind walk-out time, you might wish to consider this service.

    Valuable time on water

Posted by Will on 2nd Jun 2016

Greg does a great job supporting riders - either learning or trying new things. For those of us with limited access to ride time, boat support is a nice skills accelerator. The ability to practice regardless of wind direction and without concern for relaunching, getting back to the launch, etc. is valuable. It gets down to how much is your time worth? Two hours of boat support could eliminate 6-8 hours (or more!) of solo effort. Consider, how long would it take you to accumulate 6 hours on the water? This is not to mention the lean you may put on other riders to bail you out of tough situations.

    money well spent

The boat support has helped me progress at a much faster rate than on my own. I get way more riding/practice time per session without having the fear of not making it back to shore near my launch point. Also, wind direction is not important with boat support, you can get a boat ride to the middle of the lake and water launch, which means more chances to kite. A bonus is the two way radios that allow Greg to give tips along the way to further speed my learning. I will be getting more boat support until I am confident I can stay up wind
